Ice lollies and other cold products are not at their most popular at this time of year, unless of course you’re in Australia. This popular Australian ice lolly brand has brought out some surprising new packaging! The legendary rock band Kiss are going on tour again this year and to celebrate, Peters ice cream have brought back the classic Thunderbolt ice lolly.

The iconic Kiss logo has been used as a theme for the entire of the packaging, with the background and text colours reflecting the logo’s colours. The band members have also been included on the front of the packaging in their iconic dress, hair and makeup style.

This combined with the use of each band members own trademark and signature on the side of the box creates a sense that in buying this product you are creating a further connection with the band as a whole and the products themselves are luxurious and special in comparison to ordinary alternatives without limited edition packaging. The bands tour dates have also been included down the side which gives the product even more of a rock and roll feel to it. The final addition to the packaging that makes it special, collectable and luxurious is the banner across the top which reads ‘40th anniversary limited edition’. This packaging design isn’t something that is likely to happen again.

Packaging playtime!

08/02/2013 11:07

Toys are something that we all experience, from a young age we are given toys as gifts and find new ones we love to play with. When we get older the traditional children’s toys become a thing of the past and our toys become things we need and desire on a far more adult level, the new iPad for example. There is no harm however, in exploring the packaging of childrens toys long after we have stopped playing with them, especially if we have youngsters of our own.

This packaging is very cute and exactly what a parent would be looking to give to their small child. The innocent imagery makes it seem highly appropriate and it familiarises the child with colours, shapes and objects they might not have seen before. The wood-like pattern almost makes the package look like a tree house, an idea synonymous with happy and healthy children playing in the great outdoors. The packaging for the ‘coloured pages’ is bright and happy looking, attracting children towards it and encouraging parents. The whole range is brought together by the style of the typography and imagery as well as the tone of the colours and the use of green throughout.

Bubble wrap rolls can be a low cost solution for packaging protection

31/01/2013 14:45

Packaging can be described as the arranging or placing of items in a container for the purpose of transportation, storage or protection. When packing items for transportation, it is impossible to eliminate the possibility of damages been inflicted on the packed items. Damage may come due to several reasons; when in transit, items will move about in the packaging and may bump into each other or against hard surfaces and this may cause damage, severe external forces will also cause damage, and the items on transit could also be grated against rough or tough materials damaging the items. Weather is also another cause of damage; wetness is especially harmful to many objects. Therefore when packing items for transit, it is important to include some protective material, a good low cost solution for packaging protection is bubble wrap rolls.

The invention of bubble wrap came about quite accidentally. In 1960 Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes were trying to create textured wallpaper by capturing air between two layers of thin plastic when they realised the air bubbles could be used as a protective cushion. They then formed the company Sealed air which produced the bubble wraps commercially. The design of the bubble wrap makes it one of the best packaging protections. The air bubbles make a good cushion that will buffer any shock preventing it from getting to the packed items and possibly causing damage. The material will also give some abrasion protection from external rough forces.

Bubble wrap rolls are made from cheap polyethylene that is readily recycled. Polyethylene is a cheap material that is easily available. It is tough and will last long. The material can be recycled several times making it very available and cheap. The production of the bubble wrap is also inexpensive since not many raw materials are required for the entire process, the process is also not complicated and the bubble wrap producing factories can spew forth many rolls in a day. This works to make bubble wraps all the more cheaper since the higher the availability of an item, the cheaper it is on the market.

To get a better, cheaper deal, it is advisable to buy the bubble wrap in bulk. When one buys many rolls of bubble wrap as compared to a few pieces, the seller is likely to give generous discounts. Also one can save more due to the economies of scale, for example, if you buy many Bubble wrap rolls you will only make only one trip to the wholesaler rather than making many trips which will cost more.

Who doesn't love a cookie break?

31/01/2013 11:44

This student work has taken the concept of convenient snacking and tried to make it more exciting and a healthier product in general. It is a hard task to create something that healthy that an unhealthy snacker might enjoy but student designers Tatiana Rusalovskaya, Artem Maslov, Alya Lugovaya and Stas Semin may have done exactly that.

Images from Packaging of the world
The clean white cylinder looks incredibly fresh and modern, the images of the products inside all look attractive, simple and healthy. The typography also looks very modern and matches the exciting design of the packaging its self.

The three tiered packaging keeps all of the elements of the snack safe and separate. All made of cardboard with a high gloss finish making it look high quality. The concept of yogurt and jam with the snack cookies sounds delicious but under normal circumstances would be very difficult to carry out in an office or student environment. This new packaging system allows it to be something delicious we can enjoy whenever you want.

Super Hero Cereal

31/01/2013 11:19

When it comes to getting children to eat things that are good for them rather than those that aren't it can be a hard task. The packaging design industry however has had a lot of influence over the trends in children's eating habits. They are attracted to bright colours and branded products and whether this is a blessing or a curse, parents will have to face it either way.

This student design has been created to appeal to children and it does a very good job of translating popular comics and super heroes into a cereal design. They have taken Batman, Green Lantern and Superman and turned them into cereal characters.

Incorporating the windows that show the cereal into the images of the superheroes themselves along with using simple colours to portray the characters rather than anything complex. They have also put a super hero spin on the names of the cereal all of which will appeal to a child imagination.

The idea of the brand name ‘Everyday Hero’ gives the impression that this cereal will make kids better, the healthy factor will appeal to adults where the concept that cereal in a morning can help you be heroic throughout the day will appeal to younger children in particular.

The overall packaging is white and simple which will appeal to adults where the colourful decoration and the amount of things to look at will keep the children entertained and interested in their food. After all breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Why C5 Envelopes are needed in your business

25/01/2013 11:55

C5 envelopes, or any kind of envelope for that matter, are necessary in any kind of office and workplace. Indeed, these packaging materials are useful for a great deal of things and applications. We use these packing materials in sending important communications like letters, documents, parcels, bills, notices, and many others. The uses of the envelopes vary according to the size of the envelopes at hand.

The C4 for instance, is the most common of all the envelopes that we use in our offices. This is because the C4 envelope, which measures 32.4 x 22.9 cm, can accommodate almost all sizes of official papers. Specifically, the C4 envelope can comfortable fit an A4 paper. Basically, they are also big enough to  be used in mailing heavy communications like brochures.  For confidential letters, the C6 is most preferred. The opaque skin of the C6 makes them ideal package containers for mailing formal business letters.

Another type of envelope, the C5, is also used in more or less the same way as the C4. Basically, the C5 can accommodate folded A4 papers and whole A5 papers. Of course, the A4 papers need to be folded into half in order to sufficiently be fitted. The C5 envelope is preferred by many offices because this can perform many roles and this can accommodate a variety of things. As a matter of fact, it can be used in mailing particularly heavy documents.

Some individuals make use of the C5 envelope in sending ordinary letters and, in some cases, money. The size and shape of the envelope give it a very professional look. The C5 also have sticky flaps and self-seal flaps. These two add to the professional look, and they also make the C5 a more secure means of doing business.

The C5 envelope, more often than not, measures 162 x 229 mm. The C5 is rectangular, which makes it possible to fit in magazines which cannot be folded. In general, the C5 comes in two colors: brown or white. But, of course, these colors can differ depending on the person needing the envelopes. For instance, if you wish to adjust the color of the envelope to fit your company identity, you simply have to request the p0.0.0.0.roducers or manufacturers of the said envelope to adjust the design and color according to your specifications.

Whatever your preferences might be, the definite thing is that no matter what your office is, you will always need C5 envelopes.

It might be too early but we don't care...

Valentines day is nearly here, now before you get all freaked out about it being too soon and run off, I am not going to spend the day filling the blog with Valentines day packaging. I do however, have something to say about these...

These special edition valentines day Codorniu bottles are only available at Tesco during the loved up season and quite frankly I am glad. I am not one to hate valentines products but despite being a high quality product, these look cheap and tacky. The shade of pink they have used is far too sickly and combined with the white hearts covering it makes the whole thing look too pale and whishy washy. The black logo and well crafted typography looks good quality however put on the badly chosen background lessens this appeal. The top gold foil section on the neck looks high quality and the red imprinted section shows that it is a quality product. The white bottle is perhaps the lesser of two evils, it's iridescent finish makes it look of a much higher quality. The gold hearts covering it again however make it look tacky and washed out. I am once again, very glad I do not shop at Tesco.

The iconic soup goes to go!

25/01/2013 11:00

Campbell's soup is a highly iconic brand, their fame coming partly from prestige and partly from the world renowned pop art from Andy Warhol. They have brought out packaging for a new range of on the go soups that can be put in the microwave, still in it's packaging and then opened and poured into a bowl.

The product is aimed at young to middle aged professionals, the type who work in an office on a day to day basis and might want something quick and hot for lunch or dinner. As such they have targeted their packaging at them, with images of youngish professionals with wide smiles and expressive faces that suggest happiness and hunger. The high quality image of the soup makes it look highly appetising and both images are of a similar size to show that the consumer is just as important as the product. The consumers face is in black and white, suggesting that the soup will bring colour into their lives, giving an improvement. The iconic campbell's logo has been kept across all of the products and each flavour has a different colour as its packaging theme. The rest of the typography has a hand written feel suggesting that the product is quite personal and homely.

Save your business money with these address label sheets

23/01/2013 09:57

Businessmen, especially the new ones, understand the fact that they need to save resources. Indeed, in these difficult and competitive economic times, one needs to make sure that there is always something left for the morrow. Still, it does not mean that address label sheets can be left behind and forgotten.

All entrepreneurs in the packaging department know that the address labels are highly critical for the success of your business – however small it might be. As a matter of fact, some experts are saying that the right or wrong kind of label can make or break your business. This is the precise reason why one has to be doubly concerned with the kind of label that he or she uses.

Of course, the utmost consideration now with respect to the challenging economic situation of the market and the world, we need to find those labels which are cheapest. Are there really labels which are of good quality and at the same time comfortable to the pockets? Fortunately, the answer is yes. Basically, one of the most common way of saving resources is to have these labels in bulk. In other words, you have to buy them plenty at wholesalers. You might say that you will not be needing that much so buying wholesale is a huge waste of money. But, trust me, you will be making good use of those. Labels are always needed – it is needed at home, it is more needed in your businesses.

Basically, it would be more effective and creative on your part to have personalized labels. It is, truth be told, very easy to do this. All you need to do is get cheap blank sheets and have them printed. The blank sheets are, of course, very cheap. The printing is much cheaper. With this, you will be able to create cheap yet creative labels for your packages.

It is already a very old and very obsolete belief that personalized labels are expensive. In the past, this was true. But this was only because printers then were very few and, thus, very expensive. But this is no longer the case. At any rate, you will be able to have personalized address label sheets at your fingertips at the cheapest possible cost. Of course, if you wish to have ready-made labels, you would also be able to have. There are many stores out there which offer cheap labels. And they are well-designed, too. All you need to do is pick out which you think suits you and your company best.

Templates like these are easily found in craft stores and for sale in bulk on the internet if you need them in larger quantities. They can be kepy simple and just be assembled as normal or they can be decorated. Using elements such as twine or ribbon to hold the box together along with stickers or labels will make it much cuter however simplicity can often look lovely when on something small and delicate.

Packaging delicate succulents, in addition to a wedding anniversary the return, birthday as a gift sent will be very special.

The use of small ceramic pots is really cute and could be reusable in all manner of ways. You could also use glass pots or something as simple as a takeaway espresso cup. The use of cellophane and ribbon is also a great way to package a product as it can then be seen through the packaging. The attatchment of ribbon and labels is also very easy this way and the stage is yours when it comes to creative freedom for these.
